Comments about the content of “Unafraid of Beauty”

Ridley was an extraordinary person. I regard him as a personal friend who shared my conviction of the importance of the universal Christian Church. The Hon Sir William Deane AC KBE QC (former Governor General of Australia

The more we worked together in our architectural partnership the more I appreciated Ridley's well-orbed skills ranging from his creative sensitivity to the design process, his appreciation of the contextual potential of its setting, through to his careful attention to detail. Nothing was left unresolved until the right solution was found.
Ridley's compassionate care and interest in the people who worked with him was quite evident. Their wellbeing was more important to him than solving a difficult design problem in hand. He had a natural God-given grace in relating to others which reflected his daily walk with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Saviour. Ridley was a complete architect. Noel Bell, founding partner of Noel Bell-Ridley Smith Architects

A strong and resourceful wife and mother, Florence worked until 2013 as a piano teacher at Knox Preparatory School, Wahroonga. She and Ridley shared a deep love of music, which was expressed through their organ and piano ministry in many churches throughout Sydney and beyond. Florence was a constant support for Ridley in all his work and ministry activities for the Lord, both local and global. Barbara Dein
